Biography

Brian FahlingBrian Fahling a constitutional lawyer who speaks on a wide variety of topics. His Op/Ed pieces have appeared in major newspapers such as the Detroit Free Press, Washington Times, Pittsburgh Tribune and Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has appeared as a guest and legal commentator on network and cable stations, including ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX and MSNBC. He has also been a guest on national and international radio programs including the BBC, NPR and Voice of America.

In his journey to Orthodoxy, Brian discovered the truth of John Henry Newman’s observation that “to be deep in history is to cease to be a Protestant.” Brian “ceased to be Protestant” and converted to Orthodoxy after reading the works of Jaroslav Pelikan and Fr. Florovsky. Brian’s great joy at being received into the Orthodox Church was amplified seven-fold as his wife, Suzie, and six of their eight children were chrismated with him.

As a trial and appellate lawyer in a national practice, Brian has argued in court some of the issues he writes and speaks about. He has also advised members of congress on a myriad of policy and legal issues, and he has represented United States senators and congressmen (in defense of the Children’s Internet Protection Act) and the states of Mississippi and Alabama (in defense of legislation prohibiting partial-birth abortion) in amicus briefs to the United States Supreme Court.

Having debated and lectured on many of our culture’s “hot button issues” at universities, law schools and in televised forums, Brian is keenly aware of and sensitive to the fact our culture (and his audiences) is/are often sharply divided.
